Why you want to be elected?
Having been an active member of EYP-Ukraine for almost three years now and having taken part in many EYP events I have realized that promoting the organization that has become a big part of my life is something I enjoy doing the most. I have attended many different conferences, trainings and NGO meetings, where I represented EYP-Ukraine and managed to establish useful contacts. This resulted in successful conduction of several EYP-Ukraine events. I am proud of having been able to organize the first major PR project for EYP-Ukraine – the 1st Inter-Rail Tour, which was followed by the success of the 2nd Inter-Rail Tour and plans for organizing the 3rd Inter-Rail Tour. I believe that my skills and enthusiasm will enable me to fulfill the duties of the Vice-President on Public Relations successfully.
How will you contribute to the work of the European Youth Parliament – Ukraine?
Within the department on PR I plan to form a working team with clearly defined responsibilities. Some of the key points I’d like to focus on are: - Conducting on-going trainings for the members of the department (conducted by experienced EYPers and professionals within the field of PR; - Resume the issuing of monthly EYP newsletter; - Attending various networking meetings for personal promotion of the EYP Ukraine and establishing useful new contacts (with other NGOs, government institutions, diplomats etc.) - Maintaining good relations with the media; - Implementing the ideas for the new structure of the web-site of our organization; - Improving the PR of our organization within the regions of Ukraine through activities similar to the Inter-Rail and ‘Invite EYP to your school’ projects.
What are your plans for the term you are running for?
First of all, I would like to finish the restructuring of the web-site, creating a more accessible and appealing web-site both for our stakeholders (members and partners) as well as for our potential sponsors. Furthermore, I believe that the PR and Fundraising departments will need to work closely together, as successful fundraising very much depends on successful PR and presentation of the organization as well as useful connections (proven by years of EYP-Ukraine’s experience). Therefore, I plan to organize joint trainings for both departments. I also believe that it is important to not only contact the media and writing press releases before EYP events in Ukraine, but also maintaining constant relationship with the media (especially in the regions) by writing relevant articles on behalf of EYP-Ukraine on the topics of European integration, informal education and civil society in Ukraine thus making EYP-Ukraine known to wider public and establishing a positive image of our organization within our society. As I’ve mentioned above, I would like our organization to focus more on cooperating with other NGOs on different international as well as all-Ukrainian projects, involving more young people all over Ukraine into the different activities of EYP. I would like especially to concentrate the work of the department on conducting a successful 3rd Inter-Rail tour of EYP-Ukraine and the ‘Invite EYP to your school project’, which will involve not only the presentation of our organization, but also the conducting of several trainings for the schoolchildren on topics varying from ecological sustainability within their families and neighbourhoods to such wide-spread social problems as AIDS and human trafficking. These trainings will also be conducted in Ukrainian and Russian languages (where appropriate) thus not limiting the access of youth with weaker knowledge of foreign languages to the activities of our organization. Such activities will help create a positive image of EYP-Ukraine as a major actor in the building of the civil society in Ukraine, especially in the eyes of both the present and future leaders of our country, as well as our potential sponsors.
