During August 15-24 the delegation of EYP-Ukraine represented our national committee at the International session in Grenoble, France. The delegation consisted of Kateryna Opanasyuk (chairperson) and delegates - Lyubov Dvoretska, Oleksandra Gipsh, Olha Popovych, and Volodymyr Soldatenko. Enjoy the session report from words of Lyubov Dvoretska:
“The 67-th IS of EYP was probably one of the most serious ones, especially for the summer session, but European youth, who was extremely energetic and eager to have fun along with all work, managed to find ways to enjoy themselves. Party at “La Bastile” castle with live music and absolutely crazy orchestra, playing songs from Jewish” 7-40” to all variants of Balkan melodies, has made all the participants of the session shout, jump and dance on all available chairs and tables. The night after committee dinner spent at London Pub (decorated with American flags for some reason) in Grenoble was amazing and the best thing about it was how this small pub could fit in so many people. We even got a chance to spend one evening at the beach party. No matter that Grenoble doesn’t have any sea access:)
General Assembly in a brand new and a very serious building of the Regional Parliament gave us a feeling of being real adult politicians, and two days of debating showed that all of us were at the right place there. Farewell party on a boat night-club in Lyon was the last touch to the endless chain of posh French food and wine.
If we concentrate on the main impressions from the session, we would say that, first of all, it was too much movement. We all literally lived ‘on’ our suitcases as we never were able to unpack properly. But we’ve seen the Rhone-Alpes region from all possible angles and ended up engulfing all the beauty of amazing venues.
Ukrainian delegation in Grenoble consisted of only 4 delegates and one chairperson. But believe me, we will be remembered by everyone. Having an unofficial coalition with all Eastern European EYPers and awesome Latvians and Turkish people, we rocked both at working and at partying. No surprise here, we are Ukrainian EYPers after all! Though, after 10 days in France most of us didn’t succeed in learning French, we know for sure the chorus of the session song which is so true: “Je ne pas parle français, mais l’Europe est bonne!”
