The 1st Joint School Session of European Youth Parliament – Ukraine, Ukrainian Youth Assembly, and International Relations Lyceum #51 was held in Kyiv on
September 24-26, 2011.
The session consisted of team building day, committee work day and one day of General Assembly, which was held in the premises of the Supreme Council of Ukraine. All session discussions were united under the theme “European integration of Ukraine: Difficulties and Prospects”. The session gathered around 60 delegates who represented
more than 10 schools of Kyiv. They were divided into 6 committees, led by international chairpersons. The session was presided by Dmytro Honcharenko (Ukraine) with the help of vice-president Olha Pushkareva (Russia).
The press team was led by Evheniia Melekhovets (Ukraine). Journalists did a great job in a very short time and were later invited to work as columnists for EYPigeon, the Newsletter of EYP-Ukraine. During the closing ceremony the best delegates were awarded with special certificates. It was new and unique practice for EYP-Ukraine to cooperate with schools. and we hope that this session will become
a long-term tradition. Yaroslav Miller , the session’s head organiser, says:
“ It was the first forum organised for school pupils, where they were able to express their opinion towards Ukraine’s future and propose solutions to problems we have in Ukraine”.
