Member of EYP-Ukraine chaired the committee at the National Session in Spain
Valeriya Cherednichenko, the member of the 'European Youth Parliament – Ukraine' became a chairperson at the 6th National Selection Conference of EYP-Spain, which took place on 11–14 May 2011 in Madrid.
Traditionally, the session started with CJO’s team-building where chairs, journalists and organisers could fully enjoy all of the 35 degrees that Spain was ready to offer. The officials' team-building was held in the fantastic Parque del Retiro, one of the most spectacular parks of Europe.
After active preparations for the session, the chairpersons were ready to welcome delegates at the Opening Ceremony in the Museum of Madrid (Museo de la ciudad de Madrid) and then to proceed with the team-building. During the Opening Ceremony Session’s President Chris Hall (UK) advised everyone to get over their fears and 'every day do at least one thing you are scared of'. No doubt, the delegates followed his advice since in no time people who barely remembered each other’s names from the e-mail list got to know so many new things about others, but most importantly – about themselves.
After another day has passed, a big 'EYP -bus' took all the participants to 'Colegio San Patricio El Soto de la Moraleja', where they were warmly welcomed with 'Welcome EYP!' plackards and taken to the committee work. At the Euro-village, participants had a pleasure to enjoy food, pictures and traditionally-dressed delegates representing various European countries. If it was not for the bright delegations' presentations of Spanish culture, you would definitely forget that you are in Spain. And the last night was very special, since one could imagine being at Dusseldorf arena somewhere in the crowd waiting for the winner of the Eurovision, since the theme of the last party was Eurovision with some famous tunes of that legendary contest.
Getting back to the official part of the session, the time for the General Assembly has come. It was held at the same school as the committee work. Finally, after the fruitful debates and almost all resolutions adopted, it was time to say goodbye to new friends, close the door behind the 6th National Conference of EYP-Spain, but simultaneously open the whole new and fascinating world of EYP.
