EYP-Ukraine Members Conducted Training for Sumy Oleksandrivska Gymnasium Pupils

The work was performed in the form of a mini-session: Teambuilding, Committee Work, and General Assembly. The training lasted for only one day, therefore the organizers didn’t manage to hold a Eurovillage and Farewell Party. Nevertheless, the delegates – participants of the session – had the chance to see a photo-presentation of the abovementioned events from international and regional sessions. In addition, the pupils attended a lecture on the structure and activities of EYP-Ukraine held by EYP-Ukraine members – Viktoriya Vakhrina, Kateryna Baskenova and Oleksandra Kravchenko.
Choosing the topics for discussing, the organizers considered the issues of national importance. The committee work was focused on challenges urgent for Ukrainian reality: Independent Testing System, the pace of AIDS spreading in Ukraine as well as the issues on increasing the food quality and improving the educational system in primary schools.
30 pupils from 8-11 forms were working in the committees. The communication during the training was conducted only in English. And that didn’t appear to be a problem for the young people, since the gymnasium teaches excellent linguists. The organizers have managed to create a sociable and creative atmosphere full of sincere smiles and constructive thoughts.
Many participants of Sumy training got interested in EYP activities, thus they are going to take part in the National Selection 2008 in Kyiv. Good luck to them!
