Representative of EYP-Ukraine at the Think Tank of EYP
December 10, 2011
On December 1 the EYP International office in Berlin greeted the participants of the EYP Think Tank, a collaborative project of the European Youth Parliament, Schwarzkopf Foundation ‘Junges Europa’, and Hertie Foundation.
Think Tank is aimed at committed EYP alumni who would like to continue their work in EYP beyond the traditional session format. This year the Think Tank gathered 17 participants from such countries as Germany, Portugal, Lithuania, Georgia, Austria, Greece, Poland, Ukraine and others, most of them with outstanding EYP experience. The main topic of conversations was finding new narratives for Europe as a union.
During the first meeting (December 1-4) the participants had a chance to listen to three rounds of input lectures at Hertie School of Governance performed by guest lecturers, namely professors Preuss and Brickner, and to take part in several brainstorm and discussion sessions chaired by Ville Vasaramaki, Executive Director of the European Youth Parliament, and Hanna Lorenzen,
representative of Scwarzkopf Foundation. During the next few months before the second meeting (February 17-19) the participants will develop the results of brainstorming and will later come up with position paper, which will be handed directly to Jose Manuel Barroso, the President of the European Commission.
Comments of the representative of Ukraine Yegor Vlasenko on the first meeting of the Think Tank: “It is a great pleasure for me to be a part of the Think Tank team. The level of participants and the event itself are truly outstanding. We’ve already managed to develop some ideas on the new Europe. Hopefully, we’ll come back with complete position paper in February”.
