Chernihiv RS is happy to announce its committee topics
Organising team and the President of the session Mr Anthony Abladey Abladey have done their best to make the topics related to the general theme of the session 'Changing the world - challenging youth' while taking into consideration the current up to date issues of modern world.

1. LIBE – Committee on Civil liberties, Justice and Foreign Affairs “WikiLeaks' activities have had a damaging impact. And I don’t think that the intention of WikiLeaks was to disclose positive and constructive things to the public. I don't believe that the intention was noble and respectful. I spent a very long time within diplomacy and certain issues shouldn’t be published or be made available to everybody.” Eduard Kukan (Slovak Foreign Minister)

An issue of increasing transparency or a mere threat to international peace processes and diplomacy; How should the EU react to the repercussions of the Wikileaks revelations?

2. EMPL – Committee on Employment and Social Affairs “When almost half of a country's youth is unemployed ... and when they feel abandoned by the political system ... It's fair to say this is no longer just an economic crisis." David Bach, professor at the IE Business School in Madrid

"Indignados", the young Europeans? Despite greater opportunities for study and mobility, the current European youth's unrest is deep. What measures should EU institutions and national stakeholders implement in order to help young people find their place in society?

3. DEVE – Committee on Development “We call on the government to exercise restraint and on the Egyptian people to pursue their legitimate grievances peacefully. We are working with our EU partners and other allies on the latest developments to deliver a clear, co-ordinated message about our expectations of President Mubarak and, in particular, the need for him to take responsibility to deliver change. Peaceful reform, not repression, must be the way forward” Mr William Hague (British Foreign Secretary)

What actions should the EU seek in supporting countries in North Africa undergoing the transition to democracy following the recent protests in the region?

4. ENVI – Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Of the over 60 million people who have been infected with HIV in the past 20 years, about half became infected between the ages of 15 and 24. Such statistics underscore the urgent need to address HIV/AIDS among youth.

What comprehensive strategies aimed at youth should the EU adopt in order to decrease the HIV/AIDS epidemic among its younger generation?

5. CULT I - Committee on Culture and Education "There is a special connection among the people who use Facebook. They interact with one another and that provides a very special and different environment for political discourse and debate among people who know each other and follow one another." Miss Antoaneta Angelova - Krasteva, EU Comission

Communication and dialogue with citizens through social networks such as Facebook and twitter; How can the EU embrace the emergence of web 2.0 and e-democracy, and to what extent should Member states employ such measures in attempt to promote political involvement of youth?

6. ITRE - Committee on Industry, Research and Energy “The EU should draw lessons from the ongoing crisis at Japan's Fukushima nuclear power plant caused by a magnitude-9.0 earthquake and ensuing tsunami. EU member states might not see eye to eye on the broader issue of nuclear energy policy, but the division should not hinder efforts to ensure safety” Herman Van Rompuy ( President of European Council)

What stand should the EU take with regards to the future of nuclear plants, and what concrete actions should Member States implement to prevent a recurrence of disasters such that in Japan?

7. CULT II – Committee on Culture and Education “In the UK, on the other hand, sex education is patchy, it is mealy-mouthed, it starts too late, and, because of the influence of the powerful ‘moral right’, it fails to give young people the knowledge and skills which they need” Dr Joost van Loon (Nottingham University)

Sexual education in schools; an innovative necessity or a harmful entity to children? How should the EU react in response to the growing calls for common sexual education amongst Members states?

8. DROI - Committee on Human Rights "The most vulnerable in Ukrainian society today are kids currently living on the streets, and/or kids that are just coming out of the orphanages. 50 to 60% end up in trafficked situation." Amy Richey, EFCA's Reach Global missionary

In light of the increasing rates of human trafficking worldwide, how can European states, NGOs and the continent‘s youth work together to address the problem in countries such as Ukraine, as well as within the European Union?
